The premium is usually around 3% , this of course can vary depending on demand and supply.

Each year the CCL charge is increased.

The cost will reflect on the market price at the time of purchase, and this does vary from year to year.

Types of Green Energy:

Deep Green:

This type of energy is crucial in the fight against Climate Change; all source of Power Generation Will have an impact, however some are greener than others. Deep Green utilizes the natural Energy Flows of the earth, they are known as renewable energy, because they will never run out.

Wind Power,Solar Power,Hydro Power.

Pale Green:

In most case this type of production does involve some kind of burning, and in turn does cause an impact on the environment. The production of this is very low and does not make much of an impact within the whole generation program.

Biomass, Sewage, Landfill, CHP

Both Deep and Pale Green are CCL Exempt.

Benefit

A local authority client weighed up the difference between Brown and Green, and despite the overall increase, still manage to stay within budget and reduced their CO2 emissions, to the required level.

CGU have relationships with suppliers to obtain Green Energy prices at low premiums, subject to normal supply and demand conditions.
